A blog is a tool that allows you to get your message to the world. As easy as it is, you still need to work on it and use it creatively to create great blog posts. The good news is, it is not as hard as you may imagine. You can make your blog looks interesting and get greater results by using the following tips.

1. Learn basic search engine optimization.

It is important to rank your blog posts in search engines. To do that, you need to understand basic search engine optimization (SEO). While you want to write for the human visitors in mind, you can get the best of both worlds if you know how to do it.

And often by including the keywords your audience uses in search engines, you will be able to create content that relates to them better because they use those keywords to find your content in the first place.

2. Master the tools.

A blog allows you to publish your content, but you still need to format it and make it interesting. Learn how to work with graphics and add them to the blog post. If your post involves making screenshots of software and screens, you also want to know how to do it quickly.

Free tools are available nowadays so you don’t have to make any upfront investment if you don’t want to do it. Some of my favorite tools are paid software because they offer features that allow me to work much faster and more efficiently.

3. Keep yourself updated.

To be an authority in the niche, you want to keep yourself updated with current happenings, events and news. You also want to learn new tricks and read other people’s work to broaden your knowledge and view about the topic.

4. Get involved as frequently as possible.

As you immerse in the topic you blog about, you are going to be better with it. You also trigger your brain to think about and focus on that thing.

This is why you need to focus on one or at most two topics at a time. Don’t spread yourself too thin, that is one way to fail in blogging. Enjoy the process, and the result of your work will be much better.

5. Network with others.

Blogging can be a lonely endeavor, but it is about communication and interaction. You still need to network with your audience and other bloggers to get your name out and build your expert status.

Other bloggers are more likely to link to you if they know you. They will pay more attention to your work, and that can be great to grow your audience.

Even if search engine optimization is not part of your core blogging promotion strategy, I still recommend that you do your home work. Why? Because search engine is able to send you free traffic, free visitors and free customers..

And then, using the same keywords often means you will be able to write content that relates to them very well. After all, they use those keywords to find content, or solution to their problems. If you’re able to provide that, without a doubt, they will think you know what they feel and that is an advantage over other bloggers.

3. Network with other bloggers.
Blogging is communication and interaction. You need to cultivate relationship not only with the existing readers but also with other bloggers. You will never know where this will lead you to.

At the very least they will link to your blog and boost your search engine rankings. Or, you may start a project together. Or they may introduce you to other influencers you otherwise won’t have access to. The sky is truly the limit when it comes to opportunities.

4. Improve your writing ability.
It is important that you keep polishing your writing ability. While some people can write better or learn how to do it faster, there is no shortcut but to practice.
